Why Product Liability Questions Arise in Aviation Cases

Aircraft are complex machines made up of systems and components designed, manufactured, tested, certified, maintained, and operated over long service lives. When an accident occurs, it is not always enough to ask what the pilot did or what the weather was doing. Sometimes the more important question is whether the aircraft or one of its parts performed in a reasonably safe way under the conditions involved.
